Going on a Surf Camp Bali or Safari is the ideal way to experience a surfing holiday. On top of that, you can meet other travelers and learn to surf at the many amazing beaches.
If you join a camp then usually the school will take care of everything. Included in the price are boat transfers, accommodation, free use of surfing equipment, towels, drinking water and instructions by local qualified surf instructors. Examples of additional options are for instance a photographer who will join to shoot videos and photos for you.
Just make sure you pay in Indonesian Rupiah. The exchange rate for Euro’s or US dollars is often not favorable for travelers.
You can also arrange a Bali surf camp online. Have a look at Padang Padang Surf Camp, Rapture Surfcamp Bali or Kima Surfaris. These are all located in the Bukit area. The Wave Guru Surf Camp (intermediate/advanced level) is found in Jimbaran. If you want to save some money and you are flexible with your travel dates, try to look out for rainy season specials.
Other popular surf schools for beginners are Pro Surf School and Odysseys Surf School in Kuta beach. You can also find the UP2U Surf School and Rip Curl School of Surf at Legian beach but here they don’t do surf safaris.
Keep in mind while surfing in Kuta or Legian it can get really busy on the waves as many people have their first surf lessons here. So the price/quality ratio of accommodation is not that great.
Exclusive Surf Camp for Women
There’s also a luxurious surf camp in Bali for women only which is called Escape Haven, located in upscale Seminyak. Besides learning how to surf they also teach you how to rejuvenate with food and yoga. This camp offers an ideal specialty lodging for female solo travelers who like to meet like-minded people. Another perfect surf retreat for women in this genre is called the Bali Goddess Retreat at Surf Goddess.
The Premier Surf Camp at Pererenan Beach is a hotel. It doesn’t offer surf trips or camps on how to surf in a couple of days. However, you can arrange half a day, full day and private lessons while I get the impression that most people stay here for the atmosphere.
As you can tell Bali is a perfect island to learn, to improve or the challenge your surfing skills in different ways. You can either discover the best surf in Bali solo or join others.
